The Tonkinese Cat

Written Description - Physical Appearence

The Tonkinese cats has a short coat. There are three main types of coat. The pointed coat is where the cats points are more well defined than the rest of the body. The mink coat is unique to the Tonkinese it is a mix between the Siamese and the Burmese in that the contrast between the legs and the body blends in instead of stopping ubruptly. The link to the Burmese ancestory is shown in the third coat which is solid.

Colours

The Tonkinese cat has four main colours: Platinum Mink is the same as the Siamese "Lialic" colour. The body is pale with darker grey points.

Blue Mink is the same as in all the tree breeds of Burmese, Siamese and Tonkinese. It has a grey-blue body with blue grey points.
Natural Mink is the same as Siamese Seal and Burmese Sable. It has a medium brown body with dark brown points.
Chanmpagne Mink is the same as Siamese Chocolate. It has a cream coloured body with cinnamon-brown points.

Temprament

The Tonkanese are affectionate as they are good looking. The Tonkinese cats are sociable, fun loving and involved cats. They are a dog in a cats body in that they love people like dogs do with the convenience of a cat. They will even play fetch and jump up onto your shoulder. They have the intelligence and curiosity of a Siamese cat with the laid back attitude of the Burmese. If you like independent "couch-potato" cats then the Tonkinese is your not cat. They love other cats, dogs, children and people but they hate living alone without attention. They are very adventurous and they hate not knowing what are behind doors. They also love being high and cat trees help to keep them exercised.
